Here at Champlain Orchards, we aim to grow great tasting food and take care of the land while we’re at it. Our land has always produced a fine apple - we grow over 40 varieties on our 80 acres! In addition to apples, we also grow peaches, plums, pears, cherries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, and that's just the fruit! We dedicate about 10 acres and two greenhouses to growing a wide variety of vegetables, and we also maintain a happy herd of pigs out on our pasture. We produce a number of products on the farm with our bounty. Apple pies and cider are made on a daily basis and sold to nearby stores. We also make applesauce, apple butter, cider syrup, fruit jams and onion relish, to name just a few of our home made products. Our agricultural practices strive to preserve traditional farming methods while tapping into the best modern advances. We practice integrated pest management (IPM) while maintaining blocks of organic apple trees. The majority of our other fruits and vegetables are all raised organically. In our stewardship of the land, we have partnered with the Vermont Land Trust to permanently conserve these orchards and the surrounding farmland.
